🇻🇮 St. Thomas Carnival 2026

When packing for any major trip, especially Carnival, I always start with a vision. Before a single item goes into a suitcase, I build a visual board from head to toe, imagining not just what I will wear, but how I want to feel while wearing it.

My first rule is always to shop my own closet. Carnival is layered with memories, and I love reusing pieces that have already lived through another road march. For St. Thomas, that meant bringing back my blue fanny pack from Grenada Carnival, repurposing handmade flowers from previous craft projects, and lacing up an old but trusted pair of sneakers. I knew paint, powder, and water would be unavoidable, so I was already prepared to say goodbye to those shoes if the night demanded it.

The aesthetic was intentional. I leaned into a Barbiecore fantasy with heavy blush on my cheeks, flower in my hair and ears, soft but bold, playful yet mature. Very doll-like. Very deliberate.

Goal achieved.

Despite landing on Monday and packing an entire day into just a few hours, picking up costumes from Mas Camp, visiting family, indulging in lobster pâtés in The Village, and finally checking into our Airbnb, we knew there was no skipping Midnight Mas.

Our transportation got us there safely, but a flat tire meant he could not return for us. We initially found him on Facebook, connected on WhatsApp, and then he straight up ghosted us for the rest of the week.

Welcome to the establishment.

Midnight Mas was already in full motion when we arrived a little after midnight, alive with sound, color, and warmth. We were greeted with smiles, event swag, and Carnival paraphernalia before the music even had a chance to settle into our bones. A music truck and drink truck anchored the energy, bathing the crowd in lights, rhythm, and endless refreshments. It was chaotic in the best way, joyful, immersive, and completely worth every ounce of exhaustion.

We had a ball! The music was good and the whines were sweeter! And around 2am we realized we needed to lie down. After multiple attempts of contacting our driver, he responded that he got a flat. We got numbers from event staff to contact the local taxi services, there was no response. We then spoke with the VI police hoping to get a lift back to our airbnb but that didn’t work, after zero response and success, we decided to Chevy one foot in front of the other.

So there we were. Walking.
At 3:00 a.m., mind you.

Just as fatigue started flirting with frustration, a minivan rolled past. We hopped into the back, and in that moment, a stranger became our designated driver for the entire week. No exaggeration. No coincidence either. I truly believe we were meant to be walking at that exact moment as he passed by.

Thank you, Buddha.

The Ultimate Legacy Carnival Troupe knows exactly how to throw a party. Beyond our costume package, we received access to Midnight Mas, body wear, and entry into the all-inclusive Soka Elements experience.

Midnight Mas wasn’t a party to miss!

Midnight Mas is already advertising for 2027, and I will not lie, I have to be there. It marks the 75th anniversary, and people are still talking about the 50th. I spent a full week this time, and next time I am willing to give it even more days.

Time to figure that part out.

But back to 2026, Carnival is never just a party. It is alignment. It is community. It is style, spontaneity, and spirit all colliding at once.

And somehow, it always gives you exactly what you need.

10/10, would absolutely recommend.
