TW: Sensitive Content: Suicide

This morning, someone at the Pompano Beach station ended their life by stepping in front of an express Tri-Rail train.

I didn’t witness it, but I was at the next stop. Some of my colleagues were on the train.

They felt the impact.

They heard the sound.

As much as we wanted to express our frustrations over delays & reroutes, we didn’t. We collectively agreed and understood that a life was lost. Someone made the decision that impacted us all.

It was devastating.

For the person who was in deep pain.

For the witnesses.

For those with the duty of helping & identifying the jumper.

And for the strangers who stood in silence, delayed and shaken, holding a grief that became part of them without warning.

We are one.

Our actions ripple into the lives of others.

Our presence, our choices, even our silence all matter.

Pain leaves an imprint. But so does love. So does care. So does kindness.

To the person we lost today, I pray peace found you.

To those who were present, may you give yourself permission to feel what you need to feel.

You do not have to carry this alone.

And to anyone quietly struggling, please hear this.

You are not invisible.

You are not too much.

You are not alone.

There is still time.

There is still help.

There is still more life ahead of you.
