Caribana 2015

Toronto, Canada

The city was buzzing….It was the summer of the infamous Meek Mill & Drake “Twitter finger” feud. Just picture yourself in Toronto during OVO fest, right when Drake drops “Charged Up”.

I can still vividly recall that summer in Toronto. That’s when I first got hooked on Tim Hortons, and let me tell you, it was love at first sip. And then there’s Boba Tea, my ultimate weakness. We spent those sunny days strolling through the city, sipping on drinks and munching on all kinds of delicious snacks. When we got to Chinatown, there was this insane line snaking out the door and down the street. We just knew we had to see what the fuss was all about. Little did I know that this would be the start of my obsession with $8 USD teas featuring tapioca pearls or popping jelly.

The road experience was cool. Caribana is a must-visit for every Carnival Chaser. Saldenah Mas was organized and had massive presence on the road. The costume pick-up process was efficient. My only minor complaint was the lack of prior notice about the road being dry. While staying hydrated is essential, more variety in beverage options would have been greatly appreciated. Although some generous individuals offered liquor from their private stash, its hard to determine who you can trust.

We did the tourist things, like visiting Niagara Falls, CN Tower, and attending my first MLB game. The locals were incredibly welcoming and hospitable wherever we went. Plenty men offered to buy us beer at the game and at the local pubs.

To this day, I would move to Toronto. It's such a melting pot.

Toronto is indeed a fascinating city known for its cultural diversity and inclusivity. The vibrant blend of different cultures, traditions, and cuisines creates a dynamic and enriching environment for residents and visitors alike. From the bustling streets of Chinatown to the vibrant neighborhoods of Little Italy and Greektown, Toronto offers plenty of experiences waiting to be explored. The city’s commitment to multiculturalism is evident in its numerous festivals, events, and delicious culinary offerings that showcase the best of various cultural influences.

Pro Tip: Before hitting the road, take some time to research and get familiar with the route and what to expect while you’re jumping. Knowing what to expect ahead of time can help you avoid any unpleasant surprises and ensure a smoother journey.
